It has been a fast-paced few weeks at the Knee Regulatory Research Center. We attended conferences around the U.S., met with legislators, and held our annual summer conference- this year with the theme of Abundance and Regulation.

Recently, the wildfire smoke has caused significant air quality problems across many parts of the United States, including Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Smoke from these wildfires has caused the Air Quality Index to reach unhealthy levels in many communities, exposing millions of people to particulate matter. These microscopic particles can go through deep into the lungs and even enter the bloodstream, which increases the risk of respiratory problems.

On this Fourth of July, we gather with our friends and family to celebrate our great country by doing what makes us Americans: shooting fireworks, grilling out, enjoying time on the water, and watching baseball. While we enjoy a hotdog and a cold drink, hopefully we reflect on our nation’s history and the moments that helped transform our country into what it is today. Here at the Knee Center, we are proud to be carrying the economic principles of the Founding forward. As we gather to celebrate the milestone of our nation’s 250th birthday, let's thank them for their commitment to economic freedom.

Imagine two fresh high school graduates who want to become cosmetologists. One enrolls in beauty school, spends about a year and roughly $20,000 getting licensed. The second is hired by a salon, learns from an experienced mentor, and earns a paycheck from the very first day.
